Re: 2012 Errors
I don't know if it is just a parsing error in the wording being put out, or an actual error in the sim, but I noticed the yard marker on the kickoffs looks a little odd. Here is a sampling of some of the kickoffs in CFFL week 1 SF vs GB:
1.) The kickoff goes deep into the endzone for a touchback. The kick comes to at the 2, returned to 20.
2.) The kickoff goes deep into the endzone for a touchback. The kick comes to at the 5, returned to 20.
3.) The kickoff goes deep into the endzone for a touchback. The kick comes to at the -5, returned to 20.
4.) The kick comes to Aaron Rodgers at the 2, returned to 21.
The third one looks normal.
On the first two, the kick seems to be fielded before the end zone, but touchbacks are assigned. Maybe these are kickers where the ball bounces at the 2 or 5 yard line into the endzone? This would be unusual in a game.
On the fourth, Aaron Rodgers returned a kick 19 yards? Rodgers is not on GB's kick returner depth chart, so how did this happen?

This I would like to see in real life. He runs the ball quite a bit anyways might as well become a kickoff returner. Haha gave me a good laughUlrich82 wrote:On the fourth, Aaron Rodgers returned a kick 19 yards? Rodgers is not on GB's kick returner depth chart, so how did this happen?

Re: 2012 Errors
Thanks. I did tweak the kickoff code a bit with the intent of realistically having more touchbacks. Should not have it print out anything past that once determined to be a touchback so I'll track that down and adjust.
We added pulling in players beyond the depth chart so it won't be just one guy is the only returner possible now or nobody else can touch the ball who isn't in the depth chart as it was before. Adding the additional players into the game beyond the depth chart (for returns and runners and receivers) turned out to be more work than I thought. In cases where teams have other guys outside the depth chart with real stats (in a couple cases some great returns pulled in beyond the depth chart they wouldn't have gotten otherwise) it was as hoped, but in cases where guys outside the depth chart had no real game stats perhaps had some odd replacements at first as it was trying to pick between guys all with no stats in that area. I could exempt the QBs from that entirely, but for the most part players like Tebow and Kaepernick benefit from being able to be pulled into the game despite not being in the depth chart or starting so allowed it to look amongst QBs too for stats for guys off the depth chart to bring in and when everybody has zero it sometimes picks them. I didn't think I had it looking at them as possibilities for returners, though, as I was thinking more bringing QB rushing more into it additionally when I allowed it to check the QBs but I'll double-check that.
It required a lot of changes to bring in these other players not designated, which will be good I believe and not allow teams to tank quite so much intentionally or make up for a team forgetting to change their depth chart on an injured player, etc and makes it less work on me when the system can help bring guys into the system if they have game stats. So I think it will be good, and had wide support in GM voting this off-season, but will take a little time to perfect still. To be perfect on it, we still wouldn't have simmed week 1 until sometime next year, and I know people were getting anxious and I wanted to get the simming started myself. Having an odd name picked at random in some cases where no good real stat player available to be added wasn't a huge deal for me because it's just a random guy with default update but I know the names matter more for some and to be more realistic we'll adjust that over time but the computer doesn't really care about the individual names as we would so some trickiness to that.
In all the time for script changes, didn't have it where some teams could bring in guys with stats beyond the depth chart and other teams didn't bring players in. It had to be more standardized, at least for now until further tweaking to get up and going. Worked great in some cases for teams with a lot of depth and brining in those guys with real numbers additionally as hoped, but not as well in some cases without numbers. So we'll keep working on adjusting to avoid the more odd situations caused in that new functionality.

:12 | 1 and 10 @ 49 (51)... Shonn Greene runs for 6 yards (18-70yds | 3.9 ave:3.9).
2:48 | 2 and 4 @ 45 (45)... Michael Bush runs for 0 yards (7-26yds | 3.7 ave:4.2).
2:26 | 3 and 4 @ 45 (45)... Incomplete pass.
2:17 | 4 and 4 @ 45 (45)... Going for it on 4th down... Shonn Greene picks up 2 yards.
Ball turned over on downs.
Not really an error, but something that needs to be fixed. Needing a TD that late in the game i don't really see why would be running 3 out of 4 plays here, especially 4th and 4...doesn't make any sense at all.

Re: 2012 Errors
Noticed something minor from week 1. Looks like a bookkeeping error:
CFFL Pit vs Den (week 1):
0:03 | 4 and 4 @ 5 (95)... Going for it on 4th down... pass complete to White for 8 yards!
TOUCHDOWN Denver!! Denver 17 to Pittsburgh 17
-TD is not assigned to any QB. The sim has Rivers throwing 1 TD and 1 INT. That 1 TD came in the second quarter.
From week 2:
SF vs Det (week 2): In third quarter, phantom penalty to start game winning drive:
3:58 | 1 and 10 @ 45 (45)... Penalty on Detroit.
3:35 | 1 and 10 @ 45 (45)... Incomplete pass.
-If the sim behaved exactly the same (admittedly, likely a poor assumption), with a 5 or 10 yard penalty, Detroit would not have converted for a first down. Not complaining. This game could have gone either way.

Re: 2012 Errors
I'll try to zero in on as many of those, but I think penalties come out fairly randomly (with some advantages toward the better graded teams and perhaps a little home advantage) since it's not real guys doing real things but system needs some other way of generating them periodically at times throughout the game for adding that realism, and if they don't print out right it's something to check into (so good to note) but have to treat a little like a ref picking up the flag or an after further review no penalty kind of thing we'd see in reality. I think the intent was to not make penalties a huge part of the results, but tilt them a little toward better grades to help ensure the best results going to the better teams as much as we can to rewarding that, but not have them pop up too much to be more important than the other factors.

All the sack and penalty errors from week one were to start s drive Troy. May help you get to the bottom of it

Re: 2012 Errors
Just a note that I saw looking at this. They were on the 5 but threw an 8 yard TD pass. I know it isn't a big deal just noticed it.Ulrich82 wrote:Noticed something minor from week 1. Looks like a bookkeeping error:
