I'm not sure if it's a simple coding error, or just the software being goofy, but this happened in our sim this weekend. It didn't affect anything other than field position but might affect some more important games down the stretch.
We received kickoff after their touchdown, in which they also had a penalty. Instead of bringing it out to the 10, it brought it out to the 9 since we "received" it at the -1. Should be just a default setting on touchbacks setting starting point to 0. Not a big deal, just wanted you to know.
TOUCHDOWN New Orleans!! New Orleans 7 to Kansas City 0
The kick comes to Danny Amendola at the -1. Penalty on the return brings the ball back to the 9.
8:22 | 1 and 10 @ 9 (9)...
8:22 | 1 and 10 @ 9 (9)... Jacquizz Rodgers runs for 7 yards (4-19yds | 4.8 ave:6).

Re: Sim error
My guess is the penalty was on the return team, not on the kicking team. The returner made it to the 19 yard line, and the 10 yard holding penalty brought the ball back to the 9.

Re: Sim error
I thought about that as well, but worst case scenario is this. It's still a touchback (20), 15 yard penalty puts it on the 5. 10 yard penalty on the 10. Still no way to have an 11 yard penalty & 9 yard line starting point without a half the distance to goal situation, In this case would have been the 5/10 yard line respectively.Ben C. wrote:My guess is the penalty was on the return team, not on the kicking team. But it wasn't a touchback. It says "The kick comes to Danny Amendola at the -1. Penalty on the return brings the ball back to the 9." (emphasis added). If it was a touchback it would've read "The kickoff goes deep into the endzone for a touchback. " like it does for every touchback.lucky7jc wrote:I thought about that as well, but worst case scenario is this.
