Same. One thing is I don't see how DRC is a B.

I like the rankings and the scale on the madden grades and feel if we are going to use the madden grades we should use that scale also.

The system seems to be fair across the board so I have no problem with it as well.

One person that did get overlooked on my roster of note is

Andre' Davis WR Houston Texans.

I do question a couple of the grades issued by Madden, but not sure what there is to do about that since I'm sure everyone has similar issues. For example Ben Leber was a B last year and probably had his best year yet, but for some reason Madden gave him a whopping 66 this season. Then Langston Walker played well enough to get moved to LT, but it seems Madden downgraded his grade due to the tougher position. Oh well like I said it's the breaks of the game. All in all I think the system works, but it'd be nice to get away from using Madden's rankings one of these years.

I agree with the ratings as well.

My biggest grief is with Mike Walker's rating of 59. He's been injured a lot through his career thus far, but he's all but locked in as a starter for the Jags. Of course, WR rankings are some of the quickest to get changed in roster updates, so if he stays healthy, he should skyrocket, I'd imagine to the high 60's-mid 70's. Other than that, not much to add, really.

Just for some comparison between the model that I proposed and Troy's model:

Troy's model has fewer B or higher players than my version. In fact, here's how the percentage of total ratings plays out in each system (mine listed first):

A+: 1.83% vs. 0.75%
A: 5.19% vs. 3.94%
B+: 10.14% vs. 5.79%
B: 13.56% vs. 13.90%
C+: 17.16% vs. 30.52%
C: 21.70% vs. 32.37%
D+: 17.92% vs. 10.48%
D: 7.9% vs. 2.03%
F: 4.6% vs. 0.23%

Essentially this means that under my system there would be 30.72% of all players ranked B or higher, which averages to 16.28 per 53 man roster. Troy's system would have only 12.92 per 53 man roster.

Comparing the two models, I am torn myself. On the one hand I prefer my own method as it was rooted in a statistical analysis of the ratings, but on the other hand I can see the merits of the other system. While Troy's way seems to be more realistic on the highest end (only 13 hall of fame players vs. 31 in my model), mine would seem to create a bit more parity in the league as there would be a better distribution of grades and less emphasis on standout players.

I say go with the scale and leave it at that.

Odd.

I posted this before but it never showed up on the board.

Anyway, I'm missing the following rating on both of my rosters:

Ron Bartell (CB) - 81

I'm also missing a ranking on Pisa Tinoisamoa, but I noticed that he's not on the spreadsheet. Any idea why he doesn't have a ranking?

Just, what I can't believe is that one of the best MLB in the game Antonio Pierce is only rated 86. Anyway, why did Sam Madison not get a grade? Isn't he only an FA and not retired?

I remember last year that after the game was released a website had all of the FA on there and we were able to get all the Madden Grades then. Or some people were late additions to the team. So I think next week we will probably be able to fill in the zeros on our teams.

My only complaint about either of the scales is that we're essentially saying that either 69.28% (Ben's) or 75.63% (Troy's scale) of the players in the league are either below average starters or worse. I think the "B" rated scale maybe needs to be extended to capture more of the players, which are "solid starters".
