I'm not sure. That's something I thought about also with anonymous bidding. it really only would tip the hand for sure if there was only one free agent on the market with a current bid, which isn't often and if a team really wanted to know they'd have to look at dozens of pages to find out. In the heat of free agency's peak, almost everyone will have most of their bids being placed at once. It's something we could easily just not publish anymore, though, if it was important to the anonymous shift.

I hadn't thought of that, but if we vote to have anonymous bidding, then I think that should go away as well.

In the past, I've used the count of bids remaining to determine if another team will be likely to outbid me before high bid expires.

If we have anonymous bidding, the effectiveness of this tactic is lessened, but if we also eliminate the bid count, the tactic is eliminated entirely.

I certainly don't care one way or the other about whether the bid count is shown, as I think what you're talking about is eliminated all together due to you not knowing who is bidding on each player. We definitely need a bid limit tho, as several teams would just keep loading up on the stars until the salaries are idiotic (says the guy with the huge DeAngelo Hall deal).

Haven't read through all the thread yet but I chose the 4th option.

I think keeping only the top bid anonymous will work well. You'll still be able to see who has all bid on Player X in the past but leaves some question as to who has the top bid now. Either way you would probably be able to guess who has the top bid but I just like the mystery aspect.

Umm, actually it is make believe, and real teams with real money don't drive the price up on a guy they have no intention of signing. The reality is IRL, we always hear rumors, but the majority of the time its simply agents trying to get their players more money.

IRL if you were throwing out money foolishly towards players you didn't truly want in order to stick it to another team, you wouldn't be a GM for very long.

We can't simulate every single aspect of FA where a player will go to a better team rather than the highest bidder either, and when you're dealing with MAKE BELIEVE money, you can artificially drive up the price of your rivals with no intention of ever signing the guy. With the option to cut or trade them immediately, there isn't a big enough penalty towards teams using this practice.

You can't give me one good reason why its important to you to know WHO is bidding. If your intent is to sign "x" player, then it doesn't matter who is bidding. Only people with ill intentions wouldn't like this rule.

That is not true, if I know what players a team is bidding on and how is cap is structured, I know what he can possibly bid. I also know if he is bidding on multiple players at the same position or just one.

What about a rule that requires you to keep a signed player on your roster for X months. Also, anyone who drives up the price and gets stuck with a player, only hurts their cap. We should look to kick these GMs out, not make rules to hurt good GMs

I agree, it's a nonissue for me.
