Roster Bonus Cut-Off
Roster Bonus Cut-Off
Has a date been set yet for when roster bonuses will be paid?
Re: Roster Bonus Cut-Off
It was originally 8/14, but had some suggestions from GMs that felt more time was needed to trade players with RBs due with such a short time, so we moved it back.John W. wrote:Has a date been set yet for when roster bonuses will be paid?
The final date not set yet, but it will be the same time when we close off-season free agency and return all RFAs/tagged players without bids to their original teams. I would expect that to be sometime toward the end of next week or so but depends upon when the bulk of off-season free agency starts to slow down.

Thanks, that was my understanding of the situation. I just hope there is a few days notice before the cut-off.

Yeah, there will have to be because we want to make sure everybody knows there is a last chance to place bids for RFAs or tagged players before we pull them off the market on a certain day.John W. wrote:Thanks, that was my understanding of the situation. Don't know that date yet because usually I call that when free agency seems to start slowing and pretty obvious that the guys who'd get high price bids would have by now, so announce a time when no more will be accepted and those teams returning at the tendered amount for a 1-year deal. In franchise tagged cases with no bids, then those teams would have extension options.
By early next week after we see how much activity happening this weekend, we should know more about an exact date, but I would figure it's not terribly far away.

The roster bonuses already count against the cap total correct?Goodell wrote:Yeah, there will have to be because we want to make sure everybody knows there is a last chance to place bids for RFAs or tagged players before we pull them off the market on a certain day.John W. wrote:Thanks, that was my understanding of the situation. They do, but if you traded someone a player with RB it would leave your salary cap and go to theirs. After next week, even if you trade a player his RB would already be paid by you and that RB wouldn't leave your team this year for any reason as you paid it at that time and money already spent (like game checks staying if you after each increasing week). Once you paid it, it stays with you.Adam K wrote:The roster bonuses already count against the cap total correct?Goodell wrote:Yeah, there will have to be because we want to make sure everybody knows there is a last chance to place bids for RFAs or tagged players before we pull them off the market on a certain day.John W. wrote:Thanks, that was my understanding of the situation.
