2022 Draft Speed
2022 Draft Speed
We tried something new this year with one round per day. In the past it's been day 1 for round 1 then 2 rounds per day after finishing up in 4 total days. There's twice as long between picks right now as there was at that pace.
The draft would normally be finishing up now on the 4th day. We've got 3 rounds left in most leagues over the last 3 days to finish up the week.
Heard mostly positive feedback in rounds 1 and 2 for the new timelines. Not sure how people will be down the stretch, if they'll be loving the extra time to do a little more research on lesser known names or get a deal done or if they'll be wanting to finish it up faster.

I Like the 1 round per day but maybe 15 minutes instead of 20 with a little later beginning.

I've really liked this format. I'd be fine with 15 minutes per pick instead of 20, but it has been so nice to have just a single round per day. Not only has it allowed me to be less stressed about updating my board with the latest selections (I have my board in a separate spreadsheet, so I have to enter each AFFL pick to make sure I know which players are still available), but it also has spread out the excitement over multiple days.

Re: 2022 Draft Speed
i'm not a fan of this 1 pick a day for a week. my job doesn't allow for me to have access to internet during the majority of the day. so i didn't have chances to make adjustments as picks came up. I find it easier to deal with doing the draft in a few days than over in an entire week. i understand that i am in the minority for everyone on here and i have no problem with this run primarily by majority vote. just letting my opinion of it

Re: 2022 Draft Speed
With 70% supporting, we'll keep it to one round per day next year. With multiple comments about shortening it from 20 to 15 minutes per pick, we may look at that. Might make the most sense perhaps for rounds 3-7 when compensatory picks can make those rounds longer and less time per pick might make it easier to start a little later plus fit in additional picks in those rounds.

Rounds 6 and 7 went so slow. I think putting those 2 together for one day would make more sense.

Re: 2022 Draft Speed
In the AFFL there was 81 picks in the last two rounds. With a 10 minute window that is 13 1/2 hours. You can't start until the west coast is up so the draft would run until after midnight.

Re: 2022 Draft Speed
This statement makes no sense Larry since we already ran 13 hr rounds this year. We ran 20mins per pick in the 6th and 7th rounds. The only difference is we spent 27hrs this year to complete the final two rounds versus 13.5 if we made the change. I drafted in 4 different leagues this year and I saw a lot of auto drafting, especially in the final two rounds. The AFFL is clearly the most active league top to bottom which is probably where 32 of the 45 votes came from.
6th Round: 41picks x 20mins = 13.66hrs
7th Round: 40picks x 20mins = 13.33hrs
6th & 7th: 81picks x 10mins = 13.5hrs
6th Round: 41picks x 20mins = 13.66hrs
7th Round: 40picks x 20mins = 13.33hrs
6th & 7th: 81picks x 10mins = 13.5hrs
