I gave similar advise as Sooner...wasn't heard. But will learn. There ar some guys who take advantage of the new gms though which is too bad.

Yeah I agree. I've always been a fan of a trade/transaction committee but that was voted down years ago I believe.

Will someone refresh my memory or compensation for RFAs. If a team that wins the bid has 2 picks in the rd of compensation, is it the team's worse pick in the round or their top pick for the rd?

I believe it takes your own pick first, or if you don't have that then it would take the highest next.

So far none of the other candidates (I had a couple of people possibly slotted there) have responded to my messages to them that would lead to a team. At some point this off-season I expect that spot to be filled (and the sooner the better), but I cannot make candidates respond. The GM in question there also was the one that was the most recently here of all the teams made available, and had been active in the past. The league does not view openings as emergency situations that must urgently be filled either. There is no requirement that all teams must always be great, or that all teams must always have lots of free agent signings or make lots of trades. The league was designed, in part, to accommodate both the hyperactive non-stop players as well as those with busier lives. If someone missed a draft, they still would get pretty decent players by NFL draft order. If someone missed a free agency, there are still trades they could do later (and would have more money under cap later than most probably if didn't already spend it) and would get several compensatory picks. We make no guarantees that open teams turned over to new GMs must be great teams in great situations, usually that's not the case.

If no GM before free agency, though, the league may (as they have at times in the past) make a couple of key no-brainer decisions for the vacant team while we continue searching for a GM. An example of that might be tagging a top free agent so if they were lost they'd get 2 first round picks, or buy some time as some of the tagged players sign later.

Free agency scripts are being updated to be ready for tomorrow, and if you click on a RFA's name now it will have some information about requirements for the player. It's your team's original pick if you have that. If not, it's your lowest pick in that round that meets qualifications. Compensation must be that required round or higher. If you don't have any picks in the required round, it's your next highest pick better than required compensation.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENT: Compensation may be required (orig) and if so you must have the required pick compensation or higher in the upcoming draft to bid. Before free agency teams could announce a tender level and associated compensation for RFAs. Those who were not given a higher compensation level are set at a level equal to their original NFL draft round. We have attempted to capture the compensation levels for RFAs, but do not rely only upon the provided info as we will honor the actual NFL draft round (if not tendered a higher amount) over an administrative typo on compensation. Contact Goodell for any errors. Only bid on a restricted free agent if you are willing to part with the required pick(s). If you have your own ORIGINAL pick in the required round, that will be the default draft pick used.
