I have to do a little checking on this tonight, but for now unless I say otherwise plan on any undrafted free agents from your league's draft pools to be added to the free agency pool tomorrow morning at 8AM ET. Same rules apply as all free agents with the 5 bids/day and 24 hours without a counter offer to sign.

I do my homework.
All year long since last draft i've been doing homework for this draft.
In the course of that year, by studying and researching and listening to the analysts drone on I'm able to form an opinion about any number of players. Maybe even 300, though I don't put them on a spreadsheet.
NFL draft day comes, hardly anyone goes where they are projected.
Lots of guys projected in rounds 3-5 go undrafted.
A lot of the opinions formed in the previous year are worthless.
Many players need to be reconsidered.
I think there is a little bit of time required here to re-form opinions after players don't go where they are supposed to go, as well as surprise players that go earlier than expected.
In the late rounds, there's annually a whole host of drafted guys that I've never even heard of that need to be looked into a little bit.
There is very little media coverage on any player after round 2.
There's no way of knowing which team is gonna draft what player on draft day.
I place great importance on where a player goes in real life because that player's fit in a team's particular scheme and roster are paramount for him to have success and consequently, to make an impact on my team.
Unless you are a scout for an NFL team, went to every pro day and regional combine there is no way you could already have an informed opinion about all the players in the draft when it takes place.
Not everyone has 18 picks in the first 2 rounds, so to some of us, the late rounds do matter and we do take them seriously.
I work full time and go to school full time and intern at an organic farm in my spare time.
I am a GM in this league because I love it, but there are many other activities competing with FanGM for time in my daily schedule. Especially on days like today with 10 picks dispersed throughout the day and trade offers coming in for every other pick.
The fact that I like the old draft schedule better has nothing to do with how much homework I've done, and I don't care too much for the implication, nor do I see it's place in this conversation.

All valid points and I understand what you are saying. What started this conversation unbelievably was a GM making a suggestion on email notification. There are a multitude of preferences going to be found with the number of GM's we have. At the end of the day that is why we have these conversations, voting, review topics, etc. like others I was giving my 2 cents. I personally like it as is but that is just a one team GM's opinion. I respect others input/opinion as it betters all.
All the best and hope everyone had a good draft. Great conversation and look forward to revisiting in 2014.

With undrafted rookies set to hit the market, I've noticed previous contracts starting under $400K in free agency, what is the league minimum here and why do we not abide by the increases in the new CBA? Rookies minimum is $405K escalating to $940K with 10 plus years in the league.

Good point, as far as I know we can still bid on rookies for 310k. I know I have on a couple guys in this years FA.

Minimum for free agents is 310K.

Year R 1st 2nd 3rd 4th-6th 7th-9th 10th+
2011 $375,000 $450,000 $525,000 $600,000 $685,000 $810,000 $910,000
2012 $390,000 $465,000 $540,000 $615,000 $700,000 $825,000 $925,000
2013 $405,000 $480,000 $555,000 $630,000 $715,000 $840,000 $940,000
2014 $420,000 $495,000 $570,000 $645,000 $730,000 $855,000 $955,000

R is for Rookies and it is my understanding that this table only applies to drafted players?
AFFL Patriots - Super Bowl Champion: 22’
DFFL Jets - Super Bowl Champion: 21’ & 22’
FFFL Jets - Super Bowl Champion: 17’ & 18’
BRFL Saints - Super Bowl Champion: 23’

I believe escalating salaries for veterans had come up one year or at one time in the past but don't recall off the top of my head the outcome.

Part of it, from time to time depending upon my availability to make huge changes in the system, is not being overwhelming. Beyond the additional changes to the existing programs and updating of data, for the players it's finding a balance of keeping it real but also not needing a 1000 page document with every team needing to hire a lawyer to play. Generally keeping to the basic ideas if not the exact letter of the law every single instance, as there are some legal issues that are even beyond most serious fan understanding -- lots of things I researched to set the league up but struggle with fully understanding always so we have these off-season rules discussion sessions. We want to be realistic but not become a legal game of who knows the legal fine print the best.

It's something that should be brought up again, though. As we've already started a new league year and already had free agency with signings and teams already having strategies toward their cap figures, though, don't really like the changing of standards midway.

We probably started at 310K for rookies when that was the case, and it was probably close to it the next year and kind of stuck to that detail. The other complication with that would be the requirement of going over the player data and thousands of players with a finer tooth comb to ensure that everyone had exactly the right experience since every player would have a different rule for their bid price. So we've tended to be more general with those requirements because of everything involved otherwise.

I do agree it's probably a good idea in terms of realism to think about implementing in the future, but just comes with some additional labor and changes to system which is why it hasn't been implemented more comprehensively.

I never said if you wanted more time it meant you didn't do your homework. What I said was if you didn't do your homework by now, an extra 5 minutes isn't going to make a difference.

I don't care if everyone here disagrees with me. Its why we're having a discussion. Everyone gives varying opinions, but what I don't like is when people twist my words.

Perhaps its a misunderstanding, but how many picks I have early or late has nothing to do with it. As mentioned, for me personally, I can't sit on the computer day after day and do the draft live. Condensing it the way Troy did worked better for me.

Bottom line is Troy won't ever be able to keep everyone happy, and at the end of the day, if I'm in the minority, so be it. No one is going to hurt my feelings.

I'll end with this. I like you guys. I respect you guys. There isn't a person here that I can think of that rubs me the wrong way. I tell it like I see it, right or wrong. That means I'm not always going to have the popular opinion, and I'm good with that.

Some people here are taking this stuff way too personal though.

I still don't understand what everyone's rush is with the draft. I think it would be perfect if we did one round a day. After we have the flurry of UDFA's which will last a week or so what is left to do? Almost nothing. I really enjoy the draft and hate how fast in went by this year. I had to work a few nights during the draft as well and that made it pretty difficult on my sleep schedule with multiple rounds a day.

Heck I know that the sim baseball league that I am in which some of you are in does 3 picks a day and it is 5 rounds. I am not saying that we need to go that slow but I like how drawn out it is.
