Re: 2013 RULES: Anonymous Bidding
Thank You Royce! I agree 100% with everything Royce just said.Royce R wrote:I do last minute bidding all the time.
Hate it all you want, but I got a lot of guys I'm willing to pay money for and only have 5 bids.
Why waste a bid if someone is going to bump him? Nothing is worse than bidding on someone then they get bumped twice only to let another guy I wanted go because I wasted my bid.
Thus if there is 3 teams interested let them do the bumping while I go after the other targets I want.
To me its just silly to waste a bid before you need to.
I'm a "clown".
I think it's an ideal strategy with only 5 bids per 24 hours. It's even a better strategy now that the bidding is anonymous and you don't know if you're bidding against someone with unlimited bids or someone with only 5 bids / 24 hours. I usually have a lot of possible targets and if there is a bidding war going on between 2 other GMs I can focus on other targets until that plays out.
I know I've said this before, but you guys whine too much. It's like Napa Valley around here sometimes.

Re: 2013 RULES: Anonymous Bidding
Here is a reason for the anonymous bidding, the Amendola / Bowe war. There is a good chance it is the same two GM's who keep bidding against each other with Bowe over $13 M and Amendola over $11 M. If they knew who each other were they could have reached an "agreement" millions of dollars ago as to who got who.

IMO if that is the case then it is just unfortunate for those 2 GM's, however, it still does not make me feel like going back to the old way is any better. Both WR's are already making more money than a lot of GM's would care to pay. The 2 GM's in this case will not get any sympathy from me, as it will allow them less money next year to enter into bidding wars.larry linke wrote:Here is a reason for the anonymous bidding, the Amendola / Bowe war. Re: 2013 RULES: Anonymous Bidding
Jon is correct, that was my point. While from a selfish point I like to know who I am bidding against, there is advantages and disadvantages either way and as long as we all play by the same rules, it doesn't matter. Along with the draft, this is my favorite time of the year.

Someone fell in love with Brady throwing to Amendola thinking he'll be the next Wes Welker too! I hate it for them, but Danny ain't no Welker. I'm glad whoever it is spending that money though, leaves the rest of us opportunity later.larry linke wrote:Here is a reason for the anonymous bidding, the Amendola / Bowe war.
