Just to clarify, while I'm not keen to get through the first two rounds on one day, I'm not against leaving round 2 open without the clock running if that's what you mean by 'then start up the second round'. My impression was that you meant to get through 1 & 2 on the Saturday, and that was what I was responding to.sportznut wrote: I keep hearing this, but the NFL did one round in 3 hours. If you guys want to pay for me to fly to vegas I'm fine with that
but seriously I kind of agree with some of the people in this forum - we don't need to rush the draft, we have a lot of time between now and training camp. is there any way we can slow down the draft - if you wanted to do all 32 picks in one day for round 1 that would be 45 minutes per pick - why can't we do that or do an hour?
I know not all of us can always be available at the same time and I know it's difficult to see that all 32 teams would be. Plus a slower draft would open up more trade possibilities once people see who they're targeting.
I know people won't be fans of it but how about a few picks per day - not 32 but less than that in these first few rounds. Some teams depend on the draft to build their teams (I know that there are a bunch that stockpiled picks in the first round) I think they deserve a fair shot to make sure they pick the players they want and need.

I like this idea. Slow down the draft, maybe a couple hours each pick. We have like 3 months of nothing.

Re: 2012 Draft Preferences
I have to disagree just a bit. While I don't care to rush it, I think it needs to be done in a timely manner. I don't like the idea of drafting after the rookie camps, otas, or even traing camp is underway. Then it becomes who is lucky enough to be drafting at a time when vital info comes out. I don't mind making first two rds two days each, but I think rounds 3-7 should be a lot quicker.

Re: 2012 Draft Preferences
I would tend to agree with Sooner on this one. The further we get away from the draft the more information comes in every day on NFL team depth chart projections, player movement on a roster, OTA activity, players released, etc. For example, in 2011 Denarius Moore was a 5th round pick and from the opening day of OTA's he was instantly gaining attention in the media. As OTA's have already started if injuries occur(which they will) it will have a carry-over effect on our draft. I would tend to stay away from a player who was injured this year in OTA's in our draft. This does not reflect the realism we are trying to emulate in FANGM. I don't think we need to rush anything unnessessarily but I do think consistentcy and promptness should be the agenda here. A round a day is more than reasonable within the hours of 10AM to 10PM. Most of all I think the draft should be the same for the most part every year. Allowing GM's to plan for it. With the number of GM's it will be impossible to accommodate everyones schedules and even more reason to have FA, draft and other off-season activities roughly the same time every year.

There's a lot of things that go into making a pick. Teams need time to move up or down in the draft or trade the pick away. A longer window allows for GM's to know what time they need to be there to make the pick and it gives them time to negotiate a deal if necessary.

I agree with Smooth Glitch.
I like the idea of a larger window, but it shouldn't drag on for more than a week or two.
In all honesty, I think the implementation of the designated draft windows took care of a lot of problems. Now you know when your pick is up and can plan your schedule around it.

Re: 2012 Draft Preferences
Case in point; Terrell Suggs tore his achilles today. Courtney Upshaw's value just went up a little. As time drags on injuries will occur and have a direct correlation on how players are drafted, unrealistic.
