Supplemental Draft: 2018

Post by Goodell »

We haven't had a supplemental draft for a while because the NFL hasn't had much there, but it could be different this season with Sam Beal expected to be a relatively high supplemental draft pick.

For our version of the supplemental draft...

Deadline: End of day 11:59 PM ET on 7/13, and I'll announce the results the following weekend and place all unselected players into free agency at that time. You may want to wait to see what NFL teams offer up in the supplemental draft on 7/11, but I wanted to make sure to announce this early so people could see it before 7/13 deadline.

If you have an interest supplemental draft players, please do the following:

Email commish@fangm.com, making it clear which team & league you represent and what draft round you wish to bid in selecting the player. Please email them instead of PM them because my PMs get clogged and I want to keep the supplemental picks separately in one place without space limitations.

For example... AFFL Atlanta selects Player X with a 7th round pick (originally SF) for the supplemental draft.

Don't worry about me seeing all the sent bids and just out-bidding everyone at the end as AFFL ATL will not submit a supplemental draft bid.

You MUST currently possess a 2019 draft pick in the round you specify. You cannot say you'll select the player with a 6th rounder if you don't have a 6th rounder in 2019 now. If you have multiple 6th rounders for example, you must also mention the original team holder of that pick.

The highest bidded draft pick will get the player in each league. If multiple teams offer up a 7th rounder, for example, we use the current season draft order (by original team slots based upon worst records) to determine which is the highest pick being bidded. If you don't have the highest bid, you don't get the player but do keep your draft pick offered up.

The winning bidder will get that player on their roster for this year (assuming they have enough cap space) and will give up the associated draft pick in 2019. The supplemental draftee will receive a contract the same as the player in that same slot in the 2018 draft.

Teams do not need to bid on these players if not interested or not willing to give up a draft pick for them. But if you would like to acquire one of these supplemental draft players, send an email by the deadline to commish@fangm.com with the bidded draft round and I'll award the player to the highest bidding team.

I will send a confirmation reply email back to all bidders. If you do not get a confirmation let me know as I may not have received your bid. Let me know if any questions. Thanks

NOTE: For some reason the list of players eligible for the NFL draft that we used to upload here mistakenly(?) included Adonis Alexander who was drafted in some of our recent sim drafts, but available to the NFL in reality in the upcoming supplemental draft. As this was a league mistake, those draft picks or signings of the player listed as eligible here by the league stand. He wouldn't be available in our version of the supplemental.

Is Beal the only player? I know him and Alexander(was part of our orig draft) were drafted. How about the undrafted guys...I assume they just become free agents.

That's part of our danger in allowing GMs to enter players, but we'll remove him from the database as he's only available by supplemental draft as noted above. All other signings or bids involving that player will be voided.

Teams could put in a supplemental draft pick bid on anyone available for the NFL supplemental (other than Alexander due to league error with regular draft) such as Brandon Bryant, but for all practical purposes in terms of NFL teams opinion of value seems like just Beal here. Yes, the others would be added as free agents after.

Because of some recent confusion the past 2 days with people bidding on players added wrongly by other GMs to the free agent database, we'll extend the deadline a couple days in case people thought they didn't need to place a supplemental pick if they were already bidding on that player in free agency.

The ONLY way to add Sam Beal or Brandon Bryant to your roster at this time is by emailing a supplemental draft pick to commish@fangm.com by the deadline:

Extended Deadline: End of day 11:59 PM ET on 7/16

If neither player get a supplemental pick emailed by that deadline in a league, the players will be then made available in free agency after the deadline.

Reminder of the new supplemental draft deadline - End of day 11:59 PM ET on 7/16

In some leagues (certainly not all leagues as he's gotten plenty of bids overall), it's possible Beal could go lower than expected, so don't miss out if you have interest. At last check, I think there might be one league where he hasn't received a supplemental draft pick yet and another league where the winning bid so far is lower than the NFL value. So email your supplemental draft bid to commish@fangm.com before Monday's deadline.

On review it seems that in my email I bid a 3rd round for CFFL CLE when I am in fact FFFL CLE. Apologies for the confusion.
Manager of AFFL NYJ and FFFL CLE since before the 2016 draft.

CFFL IND: Took control after 2011 draft, relinquished after winning 2013 and 2015 season SB.
