2013 RULES: Cap Carry Over
Posted: Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:03 am
Last year we instituted rules that teams could carry over up to $5M of their unspent dollars under cap to next season (not including monies borrowed).
Here are the figures as we'd apply them to next year:

ANNOUNCEMENT:
The first day of spring is Wednesday, March 20. That'll be the last day of the 2012 salary cap, and we'll switch over to 2013 finances after that. Let me know if any problems with your 2012 figures before then. If you have a positive salary cap still and enough available to afford a cap hit (plus full year's salary already paid) you can cut players through then. However, that could reduce the amount you'd have carried over depending upon your situation.
Here are the real NFL figures for cap carry over this off-season and last year. The NFL's figures are much higher on the top end (from $20M+ for some) than we currently allow. Part of that is we wanted to be cautious trying this new element, and to also reflect that we are using fake money compared to reality so put in some artificial limits there to prevent teams from going to far extremes beyond all reality with fake funds. It's important to note that these carry over amounts will show up as -5,000,000 entries in the cap hits area of a team's roster and effectively increase their available limit (similar to borrowed money is up to -3,000,000) for just that ONE YEAR.
