June 1st Approaching

With June 1st approaching keep in mind that Roster Bonuses (RB on your roster screen) will be paid on 6/1.

- If you trade a player AFTER 6/1 that RB payment will STAY against you 2009 cap as money you've paid this year. That portion of their salary will not go with them to a new team after 6/1.

- Any players cut after 6/1 will still have that RB payment stay against your 2009 salary cap. If you do not want a player with a large roster bonus, you need to cut or trade them before 6/1 or will have that RB payment toward your cap this year and no way to remove it after 6/1.

- After 6/1 you can also have unlimited options of splitting any salary cap hit for players trade or cut with large signing bonus balances remaining. Currently you only get 2 exemptions in the off-season before 6/1, but after 6/1 any player can have their cap hit spread over 2 seasons. Be careful with that, though, as it creates dead money in the future and can really hurt teams down the line paying millions for nothing.

Let me know if any questions. I needed a break and figuring out some work stuff after the draft, but should have some new things coming after Memorial Day.
