2011 DRAFT DATE

Post by Goodell »

A couple of the options mimick the NFL format of Thursday night for 1st round, Friday night for 2nd-3rd, and then finishing up all day Saturday. There are some other options for knocking everything out over a weekend, or most of it on the weekend and then the later rounds at night the following week days.

Let me know in PM or response here if you'll be away at certain times during popular draft choices. My wife and I are leaving for someplace tropical for our 10th anniversary on 5/24 so we either have to get it in before then or wait til June/July/etc.

I will be unavailable Thursday night for the draft as I will be on the road driving to go to my brother in laws graduation for his master's degree, and i won't be back till Friday evening sometime and will have no access to a computer at all during this time

While I'd be fine with Thursday, I think it'd be a little short notice. We should probably shoot for Monday start.

I've heard more feedback (and less scheduling conflicts) with a Monday start. If that remains near the top of the results, there are a couple options to explore. We have done morning to night before, but curious if ends up mostly on weekdays and one round a day if people would prefer all the deadlines being concentrated in the evening or spaced more throughout the day?

I personally like the evening. Then we'd get more people on here at the same time and more wheeling and dealing.

I would prefer it to get under way this Thursday so we can use the weekend as most (I assume) GM's have less work on the weekend. I think we've known the draft could get rolling farly quickly so it should be no surprise it is upon us. Of course, open teams need to be filled and personal schedules need to be made to accomodate draft. The vote is leading for Thursday currently however if it were to begin on a weekday (Mon) I would be in favour of starting in the evening(s) considering it is a work day.

Every GM is going to have some sort of conflict. I would let the vote play out today and choose the one with the most votes. I personally thing Thursday is a better start date, because a) you can set it up to follow real draft format, and b) you have the weekend where most GM's have more time.

I think we did 1 round per day last year and that seemed to work well for me. It is also very helpful to have the time slots for each pick so you know when to be online.

I am fine with starting on Thursday if that's what it comes to, but I am pretty busy this weekend so it'd be nice to not have the bulk of my picks crammed into those two days (typically I draft a lot in the later rounds).

If we start Monday, I am fine with either during the day or in the evening - though with GMs spread across at least 4 time zones it may be difficult to define "evening."

Since draft was not actually on the date it normally on, i think we need to work more with people on scheduling conflicts.

Unfortunately since we can't trade players, I don't really have a dog in the fight. However, I think several GM will have scheduling conflicts (they do every year, so I doubt there is a date that everyone is have with. One thing to consider is open teams. We should try our best to get all of them filled before starting the draft. Letting the computer auto pick could set a team even further back in their rebuilding process.
