Salary issues

So... in CFFL, there's several players getting ready to sign 6 year deals 1mil per year 3mil sb.
Those aren't realistic. I think we need to adjust that any contract over more than 3 years needs to be at least 75% of franchise value. Otherwise, these long contracts aren't realistic, and will simply continue the downward spiral of FA.

If they are not franchised players there is zero reason to be at least 75% of the franchise value that makes no sense at all.

this isn't an attack on anyone making those bids.
I'm just pointing out that (while within the rules) LONG term contracts like that are not realistic.

6 year contracts at 1.5mil per year are NOT realistic, and will continue to screw up the financial stability of the league.

There are enough other bad contacts on other side of things that if we start adding in SB are going to more than make up for it

it won't... and we already see that happening in FA.
Maybe we need to knock down the max length of a contract to 3 years.
If the idea of this game is to try to be realistic... we're missing badly.

I think there could be middle ground for next year's FA. Maybe something like this:
- 1 year contracts have no minimum salary or SB.
- 2 year contracts have minimum salary for vets and $100k signing bonus.
- 3 year contracts have a 1 million minimum salary and $1 million signing bonus. (1.3/year)
- 4 year contracts have a 1 million minimum salary and $3 million signing bonus. (1.75/year)
- 5 year contracts have a 2 million minimum salary and $5 million signing bonus. (3/year)
- 6 year contracts have a 4 million minimum salary and $12 million signing bonus. (6/year)
We could then also cap it to no contracts longer than 6 years.
I'm not sure if these numbers would be the best, but could be a good starting point for discussion next offseason. I think it would encourage shorter contracts for C+ or lower rated players, while still allowing teams to have flexibility to sign stars to longer deals.

I've never seen a FA contract longer than 2 years have a salary of less than 4mil.
4 year contracts should be making a minimum of 4.5mil per year AAV
5 year contracts should be making a minimum of 5mil per year AAV
6 year contracts should be making a minimum of 6mil per year AAV
With SB's in the range of 25-50% of the value.

I like that. All of them were 3 or 4 year deals. Harris was the only 5 year deal, and had 7mil guaranteed in that one.
