Open Teams - New GMs for 2011
Re: Open Teams - New GMs for 2011
Put the guy you're going to give the team to in as the "interim" GM... Andrew has a week, and if not he's the perminent. But, a move probalby should be made ASAP.

Yeah, we'll keep an eye on NYG bids and get someone in there before too long. I don't think some of them are going to be quick signings necessarily, though, and some times those (especially top UFAs with no compensation) can go a couple days with the 24 hour requirement. Everybody should be around today with free agency, so I imagine we'll have some developments there for those interested in that spot.

Not sure I follow. To my knowledge, a GM in place who logged in today and previously signed-in and submitted free agency decisions by the deadline.TylerW wrote:What's up with PIT in dffl?

The GM Directory links on the upper right will show which GMs have placed free agency bids. Those who didn't get involved on the first day I'll contact and make sure everything's still good (sometimes teams don't plan on building thru free agency or have cash to do so).

He's just 40mil over the cap... but, he can get under.
Re: Open Teams - New GMs for 2011
I just figured he would have cut a few of the ok players with large contracts and no sb by now.

Yeah, with all the cap changes and short time-line we've had some flexibility early on, but once we get further into this week I'll start contacting teams over and making sure they've got a plan or path to get under. We don't have them keep adding salary so definitely at a disadvantage if wanting to add players but can't while over, but some might be waiting on high priced tagged players leaving for compensation, etc.TylerW wrote:I just figured he would have cut a few of the ok players with large contracts and no sb by now.

Re: Open Teams - New GMs for 2011
It looked like we might have a couple more openings, but most every GM got back into the action this free agency period. Only one GM hadn't placed a bid at all and I couldn't get a hold of them and they hadn't been logged in for a couple weeks, so to salvage that team's off-season we've inserted a new GM in that spot. gmen43 is taking over for Denver in CFFL. Welcome!
This happened a little while back, and hated replacing a strong GM but similarly couldn't get a hold of them and they hadn't signed in for 3 months, so placed TylerW at the controls of AFFL's NYG. We are trying something a little different in AFFL going forward, where if any new openings come up there we'll try to promote a GM who has really mastered the competition in another league and has a lot of support from other AFFL GMs who have seen them prove themselves to be a good addition in action. Congrats TylerW.

I'd still like to get into the CFFL at some point if possible, but not at the expense of someone new who would be getting their first team.
